What:

Mission oriented group focused on providing quilts and comforters for needy children and families in our community. We have donated and produced well over 3,000 quilts or comforters to date. Occasional donations have been sent or taken to: Nepal, India, Egypt, China, Usgurod (Russia) and Yakima Indian Reservation.

Began in Fall 1991:

Since then we have donated to our community about 5-6 comforters per month to the following programs:

· CARDV – Center Against Rape & Domestic Violence

· The McKinny Homeless School Program

· WIC – Women, Infant & Children Program

· Vina Moses – local charity

When:

We generally meet Tuesday morning but not always. Meeting dates are posted in advance – usually 9am to noon. We frequently lunch together afterwards. Phone contact F.C.C for the next date to meet.

How it Works:

We sell our nicest products. Some are hand quilted, many are tied comforters. The money generated is used to buy batting and backing fabric so that we can continue to “donate” these warm covers to the needy children.

Our quilters are a small dedicated group of women who enjoy exercising their skills. The comforters we tie are done with cotton crochet thread almost exclusively because we have found the knots stay tidier longer. We use a “surgical knot.”

The group also produces wall hangings and table runners. These can be hand quilted, machine quilted or tied based on what is most attractive for the design.

Quilts pictured on screen are representative of some styles and designs we have produced. We get bored doing the same design over and over so the design varies with the inspirations of the creators.

About our Products:

They are almost always made of 100% cotton but not guaranteed as our fabric comes from many sources. We spend quite a bit of time sorting out and removing old and dated fabrics and unsuitable ones. We use 100% polyester batting for laundry ease. All of our products are machine washable and dryable.

Some of our comforters are machine hemmed with a decorative edge. All of our hand quilted quilts are hand hemmed. They also have “French binding” which means a separate piece of folded cotton binding (handmade) is attached by machine and then hand hemmed.

Most of our wall hangings have a "hanging sleeve" making them ready for your wall.
