The work of our congregation is funded from the contributions of those who are active in the church and those who support its ministries. Almost all gifts to the church come from local sources.
The day to day expenses of the church including building maintenance, utilities, staff salaries, program expenses such as paper, postage, craft supplies, kitchen supplies, books, music and other items needed for operations are met through weekly offerings and special gifts. Many members and friends of the congregation make annual estimates of what they hope to give to the General Fund during the course of the year. Based on the Estimates of Giving and other expected contributions the church formulates a Budget. All gifts given to the church that are not designated for a specific fund, automatically become part of the General Fund, and help sustain the day to day operations of the church. Five special offerings are held each year to support the Global Mission of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). The Regional work of the Church (including Oregon) as well as Homeland Missions throughout the United States are also supported through these special offerings. You can learn more about the work of our church at www.disciples.org
Each year the congregation holds fund raising events for a limited number of specific causes such as Habitat for Humanity, Youth Mission Trips, Stone Soup and other concerns of the membership.
In recent years the church has gone through several phases of remodeling our current building for use in the 21st century. Accessibilty for the disabled has been a special focus. An elevator, upgrading furnaces, a new roof, a fully licensed kitchen are some of the things that have been accomplished through a series of Capital Campaigns. Every three years people have been asked to make pledges toward these capital projects. Through the money raised the church has made great strides in improving a facility that was built in 1924. The church has a policy for receiving single gifts usually received as a bequest or estate larger than $1000. These gifts become a part of the principal of the church’s permanently endowed funds. Click here to see the most recent Permanent Funds Brochure. Interest from the Permanent Funds is distributed annually to support a variety of causes and concerns. Gifts of any size may be given at any time by anyone to support the work of any of these funds. Gifts to the Permanent Funds may include stocks, bonds, real estate, tangible property and cash. We receive charitable contributions every day. You may use the offering plates on Sunday morning, drop gifts by the church office during the week, or send them in the mail. If you designate your giving to a particular specific need, cause or fund the church will honor your designation. If we are unable to use your gift for the purpose you have given it, the gift will be returned. We are glad to acknowledge your gifts in writing for tax deduction purposes.
